Emilia Clarke is an English actress known for playing Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO show Game of Thrones. Born on October 26, 1986, in London, the actress grew up in Berkshire and first became interested in the stage at the young age of 3, after seeing the musical Show Boat. She continued to feature in school plays before attending Drama Centre London to pursue acting further.
Emilia reportedly soared to fame as the mother of dragons in the HBO series after doing the funky chicken and the robot dance during her audition. She has since received an Emmy Award nomination in 2013 for her portrayal of Daenerys and has become one of the most popular characters on the show, despite not being easily recognised out-and-about without her ice-blonde wig.
In 2013, the actress made her broadway debut as Holly Golightly in a stage adaptationof Breakfast at Tiffany's and has most recently been seen playing the iconic Sarah Connor alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator Genisys.
As if being an on-sceen queen isn't enough, Emilia is a talented trained singer in a variety of styles - including blues, cabaret and jazz - and can also play some piano, flute and guitar.
Fun fact: She has a tattoo of a bee on the little finger of her left hand, which she got in anticipation of her upcoming role in Me Before You, playing a character with a similar tattoo.
