Malin Maria Åkerman was born in Stockholm, Sweden on May 12th, 1978. At the age of two, Malin and her family moved to Canada – Ontario, to be specific. Malin has since enjoyed a successful career as a model, actress and singer. She left Canada for sunny Los Angeles in 2001, to pursue her career.
Her first appearance behind the cameras was as a model, winning a contract with a skincare company when she was a teenager. She was spotted in various commercials and as a result, was offered the chance to appear in some television shows. One thing led to another, as they say, and it was not long before Malin caught the acting bug and left university to pursue dreams of becoming an actress. After auditioning for a number of roles, Malin earned herself starring roles in some successful movies, including '27 Dresses' and 'The Heartbreak Kid'.
At one time, Malin fronted a rock band called 'The Petalstones', but put this (and her modelling career) on the back burner to concentrate on her acting. Thanks to this, the films she has appeared in just get bigger and bigger: she starred in the musical film, 'Rock of Ages' and, at present, plays the lead character in the popular ABC series, 'Trophy Wife'.
Malin has a typically Swedish natural beauty. Her complexion is always glowing, and her face is framed by wisps of wavy, light blonde hair. Philanthropically speaking, Malin is as generous as they come, acting as an ambassador for the charity, Opportunity International, which assists people living in poverty.
