Destiny Hope Cyrus was born on November 23rd, 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee. Born to country legend Billy Ray Cyrus and Letitia Finley, this young girl would grow up to become the internationally-recognized teen idol, Miley Cyrus. Miley was no stranger to fame from a young age – her godmother is the country superstar, Dolly Parton.
Watching her father perform inspired Miley to become a singer and actress, and she began auditioning for roles at the age of 11. Miley's big break came when she was offered a part in the super-successful 'Hannah Montana' television series, which was produced and broadcast by Disney. Although Miley originally auditioned for a smaller part, the producers could see her obvious talent and offered her the lead role. This propelled her to new levels of fame and earned her millions of adoring teenage fans.
Following her success on television, Miley signed to record label Hollywood Records and released her debut album, 'Meet Miley Cyrus' in 2007. The album sold over four million copies – not bad for a debut! Miley's musical career has gone from strength to strength ever since, and she achieved her first US number one with the hit 'Wrecking Ball' in 2013.
Miley's career has been punctuated with awards, too, including an MTV Award and no less than 18 Teen Choice Awards! Her enviable looks, incredible dance moves and girl-next-door look have made Miley something of a teen role model. With her amazing on-stage charisma and natural aptitude for performing, it's no wonder Miley has become a household name. Her fans simply can't wait to see what she will do next!
